Learning about Frogs

Diego from the Science Department in NUIGalway came to visit our class yesterday. He taught us alot about frogs. He told us what frogs are, where they live, what they eat, how they protect themselves, and why they are important.

We did a fun experiment and watched a paper frog hop across the classroom.

We learned about why it is important to protect the environment and  not to litter. We played a recycling game. And 5 children got into the final, it was very exciting.

We learned alot about the frogs lifecycle and we did some cutting and pasting. We also learned about predators and prey and all about the food chain.

Today in hurling we learned more skills including skills for gaining possession such as the ground block and the over head catch. We were balancing bean bags and balls and moving with them balancing on the hurl. We then had a very exciting, high scoring, game.
We all enjoyed it very much, thanks Katie and Liam Mellows.

Maths Games in 1st Class

Junior Achievement
Sinéad is in with us teaching us all about the community. We are learning about peoples jobs, how people help us and about different things that are going on in our local environment. She will be with us for 5 weeks. We are very excited about all the new things we will be doing.
Today we made a book and stuck stickers in it-It's really cool!

Katie from Liam Mellows teaches us hurling every week. We are really enjoying it and are developing the skills as well as playing matches and scoring lots of goals.
